The bars that run along the length of the car and attach to the rear knuckle. What is it called and is it important? I noticed while doing my brakes today that mine is broken. Also, my rear sping is kinda split and sitting on that large knub below it. Should I be concerned? This car was obviously neglected.

no, broken suspension parts are nothing to worry about  and that spring who needs it to sit right?

The broken part is your trailing arm, and it sounds like your fiberglass leaf spring is missing its insulators.

that's it! And the fiberglass spring is not missing an insulator, but rather splitting

Well unless you are scared of the back end of your car falling off, I would say you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

i would immediately quit driving it. get a new trailing arm, or both of needed. and replace the monoleaf.
