94CutlassXtreme
Yeah so I glanced down at my temp gauge today and it was creeping over towards the red. I tried revving it and it didnt go down. When I got home, I checked the coolant, its fine. The oil isnt milky either. The intake gaskets, water pump, and I believe the thermostat were all done about 5 months ago. There are no external leaks. Any suggestions?
SigEpCutlass
TCS or the fans are dead. A bad TCS will prevent the fans from turning on. Obviously, if the fans don't turn on at the temperature they should, your car's going to run hot. I have a similar problem right now. I haven't had a chance to fix it. I'd still check the upper radiator hose to make sure it's hot. If it's hot with the coolant flowing through it, then you know the thermostat is open as it should be at the higher temps. 94CutlassXtreme
What exactly do you mean by TCS? I just checked it out again. It got hot and the thermo didnt open, it stayed hard as a rock packed with coolant at around 260. And the secondary fan came on, but not the primary. SigEpCutlass
TCS either stands for Temperature Control Sender or Temperature Control Soleniod...I can't remember which. Either way, if the the thermostat didn't open, then there's your culprit. The primary cooling fan is the on the passenger side. The secondary fan (hooked to the A/C compressor) is on the driver's side. This is all coming from memory, so if I'm wrong, someone please correct me. Dude, if your thermostat didn't open, that's the first thing I'd replace.

Dirty Rockstar
...This thread helps! My 94 has been doin some goofy shit on the temp. front.. But my fan comes on!
94CutlassSLCoupe
on my car i usually can't tell that the fans are on until 225 degrees (as indicated by my DIS)...Might do the manual cooling fan switch mod just to keep the temps down a little. Coolant still flows through the motor through a bypass right? FWIW: If your car gets into the red turn the heat of full!
94CutlassXtreme
Where is this TCS located? And is everyone sure the primary fan is on the passenger side? I would have assumed it was on the drivers side?
19Cutlass94
Its located on the drivers side, almost right below the TB. Just after the dogbone, youll see a couple wires running down. They run down to the LIM by the themostat. BTW, I believe its a 15mm to get it out.
