Slade901 Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 This squeak noise shows up more when you are trying to park or backing off from a park position and pulling in/out of the garage where the wheel is turned all the way either position (left or right). The models that are mainly affected are 1990-1994 Buick Century and Regal, 1990-1994 Chevrolet Celebrity, Lumina, and APV, 1990-1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, Cultass Supreme, and Silhouette, 1990-1993 Pontiac 6000, Grand Prix, and Trans Sport. Other cars not mentioned might exhibit similar problem and it does not hurt to check it. The problem is that any movement between the exhaust seal and the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe creates this squeak noise and it's annoying The SOLUTION is to replace the existing exhaust manifold pipe springs and put a (2) Dampack Dampers P/N 10218583 and (2) washers P/N 2441143. I did a temporary fix instead ( last long though which you will not notice for many years ) What I did to stop this squeaking noise was to put (coat around it) a high temperature grease on the existing exhaust manifold pipe springs. The temporary fix might not work for your car but then again it does not hurt to try it. If the temporary fix does not stop the squeaking noise then it is time to replace the exhaust pipe springs. If you decide to replace it with the original exhaust pipe springs then it will exhibit the same squeaking problem later on and that is why the 2 Dampack Dampers P/N 10218583 and 2 washers P/N 2441143 is needed to fix this problem.
