IRONDOG442 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Well men , I finally got around to replacing my crank positioning sensor today (the third CKP I have replaced in an INTRIGUE.) Wel...l Since I have done it 3 times already I blew the job off and forget the most important step, 1. Remove negative battery cable. Well long story short (literally) I shorted the starter wire onto an aluminum bracket under the car and blew something ( I think a fusable link) on the starter wire or positive lead from the battery and I cannot find it in the harness. I know when I bypass my 12 volt lead from the battery and hook up my charger right to my fuse box the car starts and all the accesories work fine and all my fuses in the fuse usage panel and fuse box work properly. I need one or two things. I might have fried the whole cable it's $84.00 from GM. 1. A wiring diagram for 1999 Olds Intrigue with the 3.5 liter V-6 or 2. The location of the fusable link that I blew (I think on the wiring harness) I tested the fusable links off the fusebox and they are all good. Please help the idiot out here. Thanks.[br]Posted on: April 30, 2006, 04:56:32 PM_________________________________________________On the positive side of things I resurrected the 1995 Cutlass Supreme today but killed my Intrigue... Also odd thing on my 2000 Alero there is no way to check the transaxle fluid? The owners manual says there is no need to check it, because if it leaks you can't fix it, so drive it to a GM Goodwrench service center ASAP?!?!?!?! WTF Quote
ron350 Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Sounds like you opened a fusible link that comes off the starter solenoid. This should be one or more or wires at the starter solenoid usually dark in color. Quote
garyk1970 Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 let me see if i can explain simply what to check and how.youll need to be able to get to wiring behind starter(a lift jack/stands),a hobby knife, test light or volt meter.hook battery back up and test @battery for voltage(this checks your battery, voltmeter, test light),take knife and cut away tape/split loom tubing, test your way back to battery starting at starter, youll find which power cable/fuse link blew.sounds easy i know, but its the best way. birdman Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 i think you should just give me the intrigue and forget about it good luck. sounds like garyk"s way is the best. Quote
