wildbill Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 so im leaving work and start my 92 lumina euro 3.1 and the idle is jumping all over for about 3 seconds then it dies. it won't restart so i pop the hood and im lookin around dadadada.... i don't see anything wrong so i check the fuel pressure, hardly anything came out, my buddy tries starting it again and nothing it cranks but will not run, so then i look under the hood again and hear-see fuel coming from the air filter box what the %&^*? ...I have replaced the fuel pump about 1 year ago, and the crankshaft position sensor about 1 month ago. first i thought of the fuel filter, but then how is there fuel coming out of the air filter box???? anybody have any great ideas? I would really appreciate it thanx Quote
mfewtrail Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 It sounds like you have a bad fuel pressure regulator(FPR). The diaphram inside it is probably leaking and is allowing fuel to be sucked up through the vacuum line attached to it. This vaccum line runs under the upper intake plenum to the FPR and then to the top of the throttle body(the vaccum block there with a few lines attached, the vaccum line on that little block closest to the front of the car is attached to the fuel presssure regulator). Pull off that vaccum line to see if you see any traces of fuel in the line(you can lightly suck on the line and that will draw fuel up through it if the diaphram inside the FPR is bad). Quote
wildbill Posted May 9, 2006 Author Report Posted May 9, 2006 Yep i replaced the fuel pressure regulator, thats what i thought it was, i just wanted to make sure before i start removing the upper intake. what a bitch to replace, i went ahead and replaced all fuel injectors to. the old ones would probaly start clogging in a couple weeks with my luck. but what the hey. next is brakes, about a year ago i found some slotted and crossdrilled rotors but i forgot where. what do you guys recommend?
