thinice Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 It's getting toasty outside and my AC is acting bad. Synopsis: When I turn the heat up and set my output to "vent" and put the fan on full blast - I get hot air, at full blast. When I turn the heat down and keep it at "vent" with fan on full blast - I get... 'somewhat-cool' air... with very little force. Same when I activate the AC. the compressor kicks on fine - but I get no air movement. Any ideas as to why I'm not even getting air movement? 91 Grand Prix 2d. SE. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 Well first, when the heat is on, you get hot air. Thats probably why its not cold. As far as not getting air movement, check the vents, make sure none of them are clogged up or broken. Quote
CowboyBilly9Mile Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 Does this lack of airflow happen in all modes and when the temp is on cool? Quote
1990lumina Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 Sounds like something in the HVAC is clogged/plugged. Quote
DiscoStudd Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 Sounds like something in the HVAC is clogged/plugged.Care to elaborate there, sonny? Well since you won't I guess I will: No air movement would signify you have crud on the external fins of the evaporator core. The only way to access the evap core "easily" (I use that term loosely ) is to remove the blower fan, which is under the dash. If you're skinny enough, you should be able to reach your hand up there with an old toothbrush soaked in solvent. Be sure to have your shop vac handy! Quote
