What is the tq settings for the manifold bolts and such. also, is there any other input in doing this, i've got new gaskets btw..... I'm doin this in an hour, so i need answers asap. Thanks. Quote

THe_DeTAiL3R Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 I thought i read 11ft/lbs when I did mine.... but I may not be remembering correctly. It's not very tight anyways, I don't think you can screw it up unless you severely overtighten them. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 GM service manual says 18ft.lbs. but idealy you want them all to be the same tq. After all thats why most gaskets leak, because of inproper tq. on the bolts. But yeah just dont be crazy with em if you dont have a tq. wrench Quote
5speedz34 Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 When you mean upper just the plenum to LIM? Quote
AWeb80 Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 jeez this thing is a bitch....one of the damn bolt holes that holds the ICM plate to the plenum is stripped....so now i've only got one bolt in there instead of two....this blows.....i'm soooo pissed right now.... this is takin longer than it should ever have to.....so much shit you have to take out of the way.... egr shit alt brackets pcv shit throttle cable shit ugh, screw it, i'll finish it tomarrow Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 haha yeah its a long process to do it carefully. all the vaccumm lines, coils, map sensor etc etc I just got done doing it! Quote
R Dubya Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 use some threadlock on those bolts through the LIM and follow the tq sequence as well. dont overtighten them whatever you do, and get some good RTV for the valley ends. best stuff to use for rtv is gm pn# 12346141 and I think 12378592 for the threadlock. others will do, but the GM rtv is way better than permatex. good luck man its a dirty job, make sure to clean the surfaces real well and clean them with brake clean or something after you clean the gasket material off. Brian P Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 why did you take the alt bracket and belt off? The only thing I find a pain in the ass is getting the wiring in the right spot between the alt and ignition, and also the EGR can be a little tricky with the pipe. Otherwise it really isn't that bad. I normally unbolt the throttle body and remove the 2 upper cable bracket bolts and set the whole thing aside as a unit, cables connected. Quote
