RedZMonte Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Any helpfull suggestions on how to get that biatch off? do i have to remove my plennum? can i get the lower ones from under the car? 1995 Monte Carlo Z34 3.4L DOHC. I have the Front manfiold, X-over and Downpipe allready off. I just need to get that rear biatch off. i figure i might be able to sag the rear subframe bolts down and get at it, what do you think? Robby1870 Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 I would say, take the plenum off, although you'll prolly have to get a new gasket set for it. I mean, either way you try to do it, its gonna be tough. Theres really no easy way to do it. With the plenum off, you can rock it forward a little, to get to the rear manifold. Like I said, either way its gonna be tough Robby Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 I'm thinking MAYBE you could get to the exhaust manifold by lowering the rear of the subframe. I seem to remember it was no trick at all to get the downpipe off the manifold. Maybe if I had to, I could have reached a bit higher with some fancy extensions and got the rest of the manifold bolts out. On the other hand, think there will be bolts on top, so you'd have to reach over the exhaust manifold. I don't know that lowering the subframe would give you enough clearance for that. You might end up having to do both!!! Pulling off the plenum to get the exhaust manifold bolts off, and lowering the subframe to get the down pipe bolts out. Quote
brian89gp Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 pull the engine out! Hehe, I did... Though it was more I was afraid of catching my car on fire while welding the exhaust. Quote
GrandPrix34 Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 im not to sure on certain subjects....for example, when you mentioned welding of the exhaust manifold do you mean to the block? i thought i saw a fiero wit headers on a 3.4 wit the headers welded onto the block...just curious Quote
brian89gp Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I'm putting a turbo on it so I need to weld up a crossover and downpipe for it. And those pics you saw, the headers were not welded to the block, they were welded to flanges which then bolt to the heads Quote
GPRACER Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I'm assuming the 96 would be the same, Hope this helps.
