nebojsa_o Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 I got a '96 cutty with just regular controls. Today I was at the J/Y and saw a nice one with Auto Climate. The dash is still prefect, and all the pieces seem to be there... If I was to convert mine to Auto Climate, what all would I need to get from it?? I've used the search, but didn't come up with too much, I really gotta figure out how to use it better... So far I know I'd need the outside temp sensor, and there are 2 sensors inside that I need... How is the wiring, is there a harness that it plugs into? How does the passenger control work, would I have to reroute extra vents or something like that, or would that stay the same?? Any info on this would be great. Whatever you know I need, please post in here. I don't wanna go there, and take everything apart to end up with something way to complicated and hard to do... Thanks for any help. Quote
1990lumina Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php/topic,16230.msg163328.html Scroll down through this post to the middle maybe....they eventually start saying it's more trouble then it's worth....I'm sure you could do it though, just lots of work Quote
nebojsa_o Posted April 20, 2006 Author Report Posted April 20, 2006 I saw that one, but I thought they came to a conclusion that the 97+ would take an assload of work to work in a 94... I think it would be stupid if I plugged it in, and only got the regular stuff working, but have 2 knobs and an AUTO button... I think I'd like to get it all working... The reason I'm asking is because I can get all the parts needed from this car... It's also a 4 door, same year (I'm pretty sure) and has everything in it but leather seats... Even same color interior as mine, I'll be going back to it anyways, to get some pieces of the interior, I'm just wondering about this... Anyone else? EDIT again, Thanks for searching Jeff. Quote
1990lumina Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 No problem....I should have read that thread more thoroughly  ....I hope you can get everything to work man...do a write up on it if you can too! \ Free bump Quote
digitaloutsider Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 You have to add a lot of wiring, you need to swap out your entire underdash HVAC system, add actuators, temperature sensors, etc. It's not worth it. Quote

I agree with Shaun.. Whil it would be a real cool thing to have, you need to look at it in the perspective of is it worth it? Meaning, the work put into even getting it tofunction may overshadow the very principle of what you're trying to do.. You can always talk with Stockgp.. He, as far as I know, successfully swapped in a dual climate system (Though I don't know he got it working 100%).. But it was easier for him.. He gutted the interior of his 89? GP and swapped in a 97 Cutty interior Quote
nebojsa_o Posted April 21, 2006 Author Report Posted April 21, 2006 Yea, that would work... That kind of sucks... Was there any kind of a system in between the regular Series I knobs, and the Series IV Auto Climate?? Was there something in between, that looked a little better than the knobs, but wasn't as hard to hook up? Quote
