cwsigmund Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Has anyone removed or painted over the red stripe along the bumpers and trim on Lumina Eurosports? I'd much rather have a solid black car, than have the red stripe around the whole car like a big ugly pinstripe. I'm wondering if it's easier to remove the material or just paint over it. Quote
1990lumina Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 IIRC that red is paint....underneath is silver if I remember. with that in mind I'd sand the red a bit to get it rough, tape off everything and paint over the red a few times... Quote

I'm pretty sure its red tape because i've pulled i off a car in the junk yard. It looked like the trim from a base lumina underneath. Quote
Grand Moff Joseph Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 That red trim is just black rubber trim with red vinyl on it. Mine has turned pink, and I plan on laying new red vinyl over it. Quote
cwsigmund Posted April 21, 2006 Author Report Posted April 21, 2006 Thanks ya'all, do ya know how hard it is to just peel/pull off? Quote
Euro Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 it'll probably be kinda hard since it had to stay on the car for along time...just use a heat gun(or hair dryer) and heat it up, then it should just peel off with little to no trouble Quote

I think I might try it. I really dislike the red stripe. Quote
EurosportZ34 Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 i took mine off. it's alot harder to remove than pinstriping...lol! i just pulled like a mother and it finally came off, but it left some white shit behind it so you might have to get a hair dryer and some googone to get that shit off. not too hard otherwise. cwsigmund Posted April 22, 2006 Author Report Posted April 22, 2006 Would it be easier, or even practical, to just paint it black? Quote
1990lumina Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 Would it be easier, or even practical, to just paint it black? Maybe, but if you don't prep it right the paint probably won't stick properly Quote
