radman3120
I seem to remember seeing somewhere on the board and also on RSMs website that there is a way to lower the rear of the Z34 Luminas through moving, flipping around, or replacing the bushings. Does anyone know how to go about this or am I mistaken (and they really meant to shave the bushings)? I cant find anything about it on the board and for some reason RSM doesnt have a suspension section for the Luminas anymore. Anyway, I'm looking to get about 1" off the rear so that when I get my KYB GR2s and front lowering springs (1.2") the car should sit about even. mfewtrail
(Disclaimer: This is not an asshole statement) The search function works wonders if you know what to search for... "They tell you to cut the spring bushing and stack it on the bottom. There is a bushing between the body and the spring and you just modify that. The procedure lowers the car mabye a half inch and thats a stretch. In my opinion the "Lowering Kit" is a ripoff. Please don't be fooled as I was. They told me to keep the procedure a secret but I just wanna say F*ck u RSM. Now I have the coilovers from Michael, and I am very happy ." Check out the other rear lowering threads for information on getting lowering springs to lower the rear properly...
GnatGoSplat
The bushing between body and spring isn't that thick! I thought for sure they would have you cut out the upper spring perch or something like that.
radman3120
I had my hopes up for not having to spend the money on coilovers or replacement leaf springs, haha. Oh well, thanks for the info. By the way, since everybody seems to talk about it, im guessing that the lowered ride height with a sagging spring would not be enough to overcome the fact that it is a weaker spring? So a non-sagging spring at regular ride height would handle better than a sagging spring at lowered ride height?
jdcutty
So a non-sagging spring at regular ride height would handle better than a sagging spring at lowered ride height? that sounds like a pretty good assumption.
radman3120
That sucks because i would really like it lowered and even but handling is a bigger reason for me lowering it than looks right now (dont have the money for coil overs). So the RSM idea is just to shave the bushings? Would it hurt it to cut the spring perches? I saw this guy do it and it looks pretty decent (1 1/4" drop - perfect for me) but he is talking about having to grind the struts and stuff: http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php/topic,41644.0.html
GnatGoSplat
I don't think it would hurt anything to cut the spring perches, but it sounds like mounting the spring back in might be a bit crude.
