fleetwoodguy79 Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 Hi all, am getting ready to buy a DOHC from Travis on the forums. There is 130k on the engine, and I am a little worried about it dying on me. I thought since it was already out of the car I could attempt a rebuild. Maybe go with some forged pistons and performance valves etc... I've never had anything torn apart past the plenum, think I could do it? Anyone ever done this before? What is all involved in the rebuilding of the DOHC? Thanks for you're help, hope I will be getting started soon! Quote
Redfox340 Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 A ton is involved... even skilled mechanics can run into trouble reseting the timing. Personally, I would give it up to a pro engine builder so they can get the tolerances correct and to spec. - RedFox340 Quote
Robby1870 Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 yeah, gettin the timing right on DOHC motors is always tough. If it was a 3.1L I would say go at it. Alot less involved Robby Quote
