Psych0matt Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Well, i took her out for a quick vacuum of the floors (wet, it rained a ton yesterday) and then out for a quick cruise around town. everything seemed fine, and i think my lack of midrange power had something to do with me not being used to the way this car drives (been driving the beast for the last 8 months). but all the sudden, i noticed that it was a real dog, and felt like i was missing on a cylinder or something. kindof a popping sound or something (not knocking, thank god). no coolant in the oil, one of the throttle cables came loose, but i put it back on and it didn't help. oh yeah, no ses light either. any ideas?[br]Posted on: April 17, 2006, 02:05:36 PM_________________________________________________started it back up for a bit after an hour or so, and its still running rough. I thought I smelled gas for a bit, but all my plugs and stuff seem ok. don't have time to do anything else before work Quote
SigEpCutlass Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 are you sure it's just not that year old gas? Quote
Psych0matt Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 drove til i had no bars left yesterday, and then put a full tank of premium in, so i don't think it's that Quote
GP1138 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Betcha it's the coilpacks/ICM. Either that or the spark plug wires aren't on there correctly. Quote
Psych0matt Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 wires are on correctly, they were working fine all yesterday and most of today could be the icm/coils (which, by the way, are now relocated. Can you say "easy"?) Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 well if it smells like gas, theres a misfire. Chould be like the above was mentioned, could be a plug wire itself, but when you say plugs seemed OK, did you actually take them out and inspect them? Quote
Psych0matt Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 they're brand new plugs, so i guess i wouldnt expect that really. but either way, tomorrow I'll check the front plugs, and hopefully the back plugs too! Quote
mfewtrail Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Matt, it sounds like you have a ignition component going bad and rainwater probably splashed up on that component causing the car to run rough. Get an old spray bottle and put some water in it, then set the nozzle to spray in a mist pattern. Lightly mist the coilpacks/spark plug wires, etc. while idling the engine and see if you can hear any stumbles/misfires. Quote
Psych0matt Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 rainwater Didn't think about that, It did rain a ton last night. I bet something did get wet. My coils were relocated to the lower left corner (when looking at the engine) so i bet that's it [br]Posted on: April 18, 2006, 12:54:25 AM_________________________________________________FIXED! bad coil pack. i figured it out by the one that didn't shock me!
