ssheen
Hi, My wife has a 1994 Olds Cutlass Supreme SL with the 3100 V6. I have been thinking about refreshing the heads and tracking down some oil leaks. Are there better heads, intake, and exhaust manis for the car? For my turbo car I backcut the valves and did a 3 angle on the intake and radius on the exhaust. Worth doing on her car for some extra power? What is the stock C/R on this engine? How high have guys raised it? Was it raised just by shaving the head? What are the stock numbers to figure out the C/R? (http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/compstaticcalc.html) Any and all advice/comments most welcome Scott S
THe_DeTAiL3R
Don't bother spending time or money upgrading the stock top end Get a newer (00+?) 3100 or 3400 top end (heads, intake) which flow better and the heads are roller rocker as opposed to the stamped steel design. That should bump you up from ~160hp to ~
ssheen
Those are a direct bolt on? No mods needed? Compression ratio the same with those?
THe_DeTAiL3R
It is a direct bolt on, I think there are some MINOR mods but nothing too crazy. I haven't done it myself so I don't remember the details. http://60degreeV6.com has good info too
White93z34
as for the top end swap, LATE model year 1994s already have the provision for roller rockers, it should say the month/year the car was built on the drivers door sticker. but do a little searching around here, john (GP1138) and i did this swap on his 94' GP SE with a 3100 and i can say i was prety pleased with it. I will double check the month/year of her car. What were you pleased with? Power? Mileage? ?
White93z34
i'm sure john will chime in when he sees this since it was his car, but it seems to have abit more midrange to topend then it used to. as for mileage i really do not know. ssheen
I have been reading through the head swap thread. Good info. Not sure about going that route yet. May just refresh what is on the car now and raise the C/R.

I had my Shelby Z detuned a bit when I did that dyno. I was getting detonation, so I had the timing backed of to 8* instead of 12* I hope to be updating the numbers with a new baseline run here in the next month. I see your turbo puts out the torque.
