Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Hello, I have a '93 Cutlass Supreme Convertible. It's being brought back to me Friday, after a fix from a crash (not my fault!). Anywho, I was wondering if there was a way to change out the analog instrument for a digital one. Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I searched and didn't find it. Quote
cutlsp Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Yes there is a guy here that makes adaptors for changing your dash if your looking to do that.... Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Yes there is a guy here that makes adaptors for changing your dash if your looking to do that.... SWEET! What is the price? Does the dash look like the one in your signature? Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Yes you can swap it for a digital dash the digital unit is a exact fit, but for the UB3 digital cluster you have to change the cluster plug pins to make it work without issue. here is a link for that process. http://www.w-body.com/upgrades/88-91cutlass-cluster/index.html i have done it to my 1993 Cutlass Conv. and My 1992 Cutlass Supreme Coupe with the Convertable at times when the sun is at your back its kinda hard to see the digital gauges with the glare but its not that bad. To get the one with the Tach and full gauges ebay is your best bet and they range from $20-50 bucks otherwise try a wreckers yard. I am talking about the regular dash, not digital. Can it be converted to digital? Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Thats what im saying the regular dash and the BASE digital have the same wiring and cluster plug pins.....the UB3 like you seen in Crazy cutlsp's sig you can install but you have to follow the instructions in that link i gave you. What about that adaptor someone made? Would that make it like a "plug and play"? Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 I read on the eBay auctions: if you have analog speedometer now this will not work. It that incorrect? Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 believe stuff on here from reliable members........believe nothing from Ebay sellers Thanks, so I guess I can find the Instrument Cluster on eBay, buy it, and buy the adapter, then install myself? Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 I am also gonna need to change over to coolant and oil information SENDERS. Where would I get those and what are they? Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Yea, I have the analog cluster. That means I already have senders. So all I need to do is change up all the wiring. Thanks! THIS IS GONNA BE COOL! Quote
jeremy Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 I have a spare full digital cluster that I am selling...if you are interested send me a PM Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 I see that one was sold already. I am getting one asap. Quote
ToroToro Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Yea, I have the analog cluster. That means I already have senders. So all I need to do is change up all the wiring. Thanks! THIS IS GONNA BE COOL! No, not ALL the senders. You'll need an oil pressure sender. The 93-94 analog cars have a SWITCH with a resistor in the cluster so that the pressure gauge always reads 5/8 full. When you get the digital one in there it'll read totally full until you put a sender in. Quote
ToroToro Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Not arguing with you either. '93 was a hit and miss year for that. Best way to check is just to see if it sweeps full scale with the key on, engine off. If it only goes 5/8, you need a sender. Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Hey, back. Where would I get a sender? Some regular auto store? Advance Auto Parts? ... Going to church now, so someone reply before I get back! Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Ok, thanks. So where does the sender go in the car? Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Above the oil filter. Is it very hard to get to? Should I have a mechanic do it for like $10? (Assuming it doesn't take very long) Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 http://198.208.187.182/internet/PartImage.jsp?mfgname=ACDELCO&prodlinecd=3&acpartnbr=10201491 Thx man, but I still need to find out where to buy it and wether I should install it myself. When this is all over with, I will post pics. Quote
Seshomaru7 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 I guess I will try it myself, but the digital dash wiring I won't try. I guess I have to buy a $40 adaptor Quote
ns87 Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 StockGP is great. He made an adaptor for me, and I had a problem. He took it back and rewired it to my specifications. Great guy to deal with Quote
