hannibal64 Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 He checked everything out.. and said it was the ICM so he changed it.... i could have done it but oh well. I call to check on it today to see if i can come pick it up.... Yeah he said it wasn't the module its not my coils, its not my tower, blah blah blah. He said he thinks its the computer. I said ok.. then he proceeds to tell me he can't find one. I can only use a 90 - 91 Cutlass LGO computer.. Autozone doesnt cary, no auto parts does in any case. Now i have to find one.. WTF? / rant Quote
94CutlassXtreme Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Does the car start? If it does there's no way its the PCM. Quote
hannibal64 Posted April 15, 2006 Author Report Posted April 15, 2006 Does the car start? If it does there's no way its the PCM. switthed everything in the ignition around and teh same 2 cylinders wont spark... thats why hes leaning towards the comp now.. changed coils, tower, icm, and swithed it all around a few times and still no change cyle 2 and 3 is dead all the time.. thats why hes thinking computer.. 94CutlassXtreme Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 I suppose it could be a coil driver within the PCM, are the two cylinders that wont spark powered by the same coil? Quote
hannibal64 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 I suppose it could be a coil driver within the PCM, are the two cylinders that wont spark powered by the same coil? i dont know.. i dont know the firing pattern for the coil tower. i started thinking aboiut it like this dunno if its right or not though 1 2 3 4 if its firing like this one part of each coil would be bad right? x x thats what the mechanic says its firing like. changed coils and module and swapped towers same result. guess computer is the only thing left right? Regal_GS_1989 Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 You say that cylinders 2 and 3 aren't firing?? The way that the ignition works, is that it fires both spark plugs that are on the same coil. (1, 4) (6, 3) (2, 5) When one coil fails, it is those 2 cylinders that wont fire. This may sound like an obvious question, but how are the plugs and wires to those 2 cylinders? I dont see any way possible for it to not fire on 2 cylinders that are on 2 different coil packs. Unless it is plug/wire related. Another thing that i though about could be the fuel injectors on those 2 cylinders are stuck closed. Quote
hannibal64 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Its a Quad 4 so i have no wires. and the last time i checked the plugs before it went to the mechanic the plugs weren't fouled. Quote
mihela816 Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 You need a quad 4 computer? I have one sitting around. Quote
hannibal64 Posted April 17, 2006 Author Report Posted April 17, 2006 Is it for the LGO? needs to be the 5 speed version and like 90 - 91 Quote
mihela816 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Its an auto, but you'd just have to swap out the memcal. Quote
