dohcfiend Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 i am getting a coilover kit for my 94 gp gtp with a manual tranny in it and was wondering how much do you guys think i can drop the rideheight be4 i start to run into cv joint problems???? Quote
J Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 i don't think your going to run into cv problems, before you run into rubbing problems. MIne is dropped pretty far and i have had no problems. But i don't have the front coilover kit. What "kit" are you getting? Quote
dohcfiend Posted April 8, 2006 Author Report Posted April 8, 2006 held motorsports. should arrive wednesday at the latest. your car is pretty low. i suppose if u did not have any problems, i should be ok. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 well with the held you can drop it so that the tires are into the fender wells, which is obviously too low. but as long as your not rubbing, you should be fine. Quote

19Cutlass94 Posted April 10, 2006 Report Posted April 10, 2006 yeah you would have to account for that, so its way too low. Unless you get some struts that have almost no give to them, almost like the koni's, but youd be able to get it pretty low with suspension travel included Quote
dohcfiend Posted April 10, 2006 Author Report Posted April 10, 2006 i am hoping for 3-4.5 inches. probably be using kyb inserts. springs are pretty stiff though. Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 i am hoping for 3-4.5 inches. probably be using kyb inserts. springs are pretty stiff though. I think that's kinda ridiculas... 4.5" inches is a long way to drop a car. I know they've been dropped lower but I hate seeing cars riding on the ground... Quote
jeremy Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 i am hoping for 3-4.5 inches. probably be using kyb inserts. springs are pretty stiff though. there is a BIG difference between 3 and 4.5" inches.....I am curious to see how everything turns out for you Quote

I think that's kinda ridiculas... 4.5" inches is a long way to drop a car. I know they've been dropped lower but I hate seeing cars riding on the ground... it will still be a ways off of the ground, looks to be about 6-8 inches of ground clearence. i will need to measure i know. i decided to buy the kit for several reasons, 1st off is wheelhop: those stiffer springs should all but eliminate it. secondly is weight reduction: should be able to shed some weight by removing the cumbersome monoleaf. third is the obvious reason looks and lastly function: after 125 or so, these wbodies do not do so well. need to drop it so i can reduce the amount of air under it. just didn't want you to think that "slamming" it was my only motivation. the 3 - 4.5 is a guess, it may be more or it may be less. Cam'ron Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 jesus dude if you want to go that low why not go with airbags JMO Quote
J Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 there will be no weight savings removng the monoleaf, it is light as hell compared to the Coilovers! Weight gain!!!!! About the air bags, i'm sure many of us would use them if they made a kit like they make for J bodies to bolt right up and be done. I have contacted 3 shops about it, and they all say at least $4000 for a air bag set up, and thats being cheap, it'll more than likely cost $5000 or so. Mine would be done right now but the kit itself is $$2000 with the struts/bags i need and also the compressor, tnak, lines valves and switch box. Labor is what kills it Quote
