Dark Ride Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Hint: check the FAQ section of this forum you would really have to pull it forward to tear anything, just pull it ahead enough for your hands and you'll be fine Quote

cutty Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 its pretty easy, but post up here if you run into some trouble Quote
pitzel Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 It really helps if you park the car on a flat surface first. Even a slight bit of an lincline makes the job harder than it needs to be (more force necessary to rock the engine forward). Quote
jdcutty Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 When i did mine all I used was the 5/8" socket with a 6" extention, a swivel, and a 3" extention. Worked with no problems. A tube that will fit over the end of the spark plug come in handy for threading the new ones in by hand when you cant reach. I did it this way on both my 3100 and my 3.4 without rocking the motor forward. Quote
GIANT MOTH Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 It is much easier to get at if the engine is pulled back. They are made that way. The only thing that might really help you is by getting a "Ratcheting Tie Down Strap". Usually can hook it to the engine bracket to the bumper. The engine mount(s) in the front should be taken off and the tie strap is used to crank it back. Just don't fall down there when you get at it you might break something. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 The 3100 has more than enough room in the back of the engine compartment to get a socket, swivel, and extention with a ratchet to get the plugs off. Just sit on top of the intake manifold and go to town. You just have to search with your hands to find the plugs. Youll never have enough room to see down there no matter what you do. BTW, Search!! I agree that is the best way to get at it. HOWEVER, PLEASE STOP POSTING USING BLUE TEXT! It is near impossible to read without squinting if you are using the dark theme...thanks. Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 You gotta be shitting me... been here this long and haven't read any spark plug threads?? Read the FAQs. Rock your engine forward (I did) IT'S OBVIOUSLY EASIER TO JUST DO IT THAT WAY REGARLDESS IF POSSIBLE OR NOT. Quote
fastbird232 Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 There should be a seperate section for talking about/arguing about spark plug removal. Quote
