Monkton
Okay, so I am expecting to recieve a new cd player for my car tomorrow. Upgrading from the stock radio in my 1991 Olds Cutlass Supreme. And I basically just want to have a general idea what I'm doing. I can get the dash off, but after that I'm kind of lost. I'm going to guess I'm going to have to get a wiring harness for it, but what exactly do I do with the harness? Do I have to cut the wires going into the stock stereo and insert them in the harness? Will the wires easily come out of the stereo or will I have to cut them? I've never done a car stereo install so basically I'm looking for a general plan of attack so I know what to expect. Any and all information is appreciated.
19Cutlass94
Youll have a stock wiring harness, that plugs into the back of the stock unit. Just simply unplug it. youll need an aftermarket harness that will adapt your stock to the cd player that your getting. No cutting, just plug in. You wont have to cut anything. You dont need to take the dash off ( atleast I didnt, but its easier ) all you need to take out is the plastic trim around the gauges. 1990lumina
And you'll need to get a dsh kit?? Or do Cutlass's have 1 din units?

Monkton
Panasonic CQ-C1301U Some of you may have your opinions about Panasonic and so forth, but I've had really no problems with it yet. Install was a bitch because I did have to strips the wires from the back of the headunit to attach them to the wiring harness, so that took a while. It reads MP3 cds a little slow but sounds good with my stock fronts and Sony rears, and tomorrow I'm putting in my 400w amplifier and 2 12'' subwoofers. I'll probably put some pics up of the completed system Monday or Tuesday.

Monkton
I got the "Visonik Super Bass Package". Eh, it's got enough bump for me. I have pictures but my computer isn't networking right at the moment so I can't transfer them over... I think at some point I'm upgrading the amplifier, I think the subs can handle more power than this one. Yeah I know the trunk is kinda messy but whatever, it's not like anyone really looks back there.
THe_DeTAiL3R
As long as you don't see any wires in the interior, that's all that really matters I guess. My trunk is kinda messy too.
19Cutlass94
Im actually uploading pictures of my eD install right now. But as long as theres no wires showing, it isnt ghetto rigged or anything, thats what matters. A nice, good install is key.

But after awhile it gets old of someone posting a picture and only see half of it without someone having to fix it.

It's an issue with the skin that you are using....I am using the SMF skin and there are scroll bars only in the post with the pic(s) so I can see the entire pic(s)
