chadz34 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 We had a pretty bad storm here a few moths ago, and my door was froze shut, got it open but the bottom front of the door got krinked by ice, so it dented and paint came off, so I am getting the entire bottom of the car repainted (where it is silver). It goes into the paint booth April 17th and they will have it for 3 days to complete the job. I chose gravelguard and clearcoat because it lasts longer. Quote
White93z34 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 and i thought it was bad living down here in PA, canada sounds like the north pole. Quote
1990lumina Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 That gravel guard stuff is the shit!! Good job on opting for it....my dad's Taurus has that gravel guard and it hasn't been damaged by many many kilometers on gravel and dirt roads.....whereas as my Lumina the paint just chips off Quote

Good job on opting for it....my dad's Taurus has that gravel guard and it hasn't been damaged by many many kilometers on gravel and dirt roads.....whereas as my Lumina the paint just chips off Yeah, that's why I want gravelguard, it just is tougher than regular paint. I would take pics, but it is snowing again as we speak. Canada is fucked, it's supposed to be plus 15 by the weekend. Quote
Regal_GS_1989 Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 That is what it looks like once applied. It resembles an asphalt type undercoating, and is extremely durable. It is a lot thicker than regular paint, and can really help keep the bottom sides of a daily driver rust and chip free. Quote
1990lumina Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Everywhere under the body moulding stripe has that gravel guard....It isn't very noticable on this car at all really...but protects perfectly. Quote

Yep, she goes in for paint on the 17th and I get her back on the 20th, I am pretty pumped. On the Taurus you can't tell it has gravelguard, but it looks good. Quote
1990lumina Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Yeah I was trying to find a picture that actually shows it...but I couldn't lol......is there an option our profiles to turn off this automatic resize/cut off half the image feature?? It's really annoying EDIT: found an old picture that better shows the gravel guard... Quote
