bigdman Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 i have a 3.1 cutlass and the engine vibrated horribly above 2500 rpms. so i changed the harmonic balencer, well the vibration went away. but when i was changing it you can turn it about 10 degrees, and you can tell the pistons arent moving yet, then it catches and its alot harder to turn. also when you do this you can here the noise inside the engine. could this be worn crank journals, rods, or something worse. Brian P Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 you probably have a worn/stretched timing chain. Quote
