92SL
Went & bought a can of intake cleaner to clean my 92 supreme 3.1. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about using this stuff? I was thinking something like leaving the car running & giving little bursts of intake cleaner through the intake tube(between throttle body & claener assebly) via the vac hose or whatever that hose is for that sits half way. 19Cutlass94
If you really wanna get it clean, take it off and hot tank it.
92SL
do you mean remove the whole intake & what's meant by" hot tank"?
19Cutlass94
yupp, take off the intake ( Im sure you dont wanna do this because youll need new gaskets, but if you need to replace em its a good time though ) Hot tank is like a bath that they put the intake ( or whatever part it may be ) and by dipping it in the hot tank and letting it sit in there for a little bit, it cleans the whole intake, inside and out so that its basically like new. gp90se
slowly run what you have thru the intake, when ya getting 2 the end of the bottle, let it flood out (let it suck as much in till it stalls, or shut it off when its stubling) let it sit for 15 minutes after, fire it back up and take it for a ride. like 92 said, taking the plenum off, using a good degreaser (power purple, simplegreen) and a flexable brush (i used a baby bottle cleaner). I cleaned my buicks plenum up, ported/polished it, runs smooth as a 3.1 gets and gets killer mpg.
