ummm I don't know if it is a W!!!

a friend's 01 aurora... which i will forever picture being jumped on to make it flip from one of the matrix sequels... ... is having long crank to start, misfire, tach, and oil light issues.

The car has 91,000 miles on it.

The long crank is like 5-10 seconds of cranking before the engine even fires. (I know the 3.1 type motors utilize the oil pressure sender to bypass the fuel pump relay if it were to fail, so I need to find and inspect this on his car.)

the tach suddenly started giving bogus high readings.... like 4000 at idle and pegged it you are moving at speed even if doing so at a true low RPM... (like 1500)

and the car sometimes at stop lights acts like it loses a few cylinders. The car has those direct coils on top of the valve covers that each handle three plugs. I imagine that one of those may be acting intermittant???

and the oil light... it doesn't light except it light test mode.... Most cars have the light light while cranking, until pressure develops.

In the next day or two I am going to change the plugs and fuel filter and maybe the valve cover gaskets on this car, and try to locate the oil pressure sender as I suspect it is bad... and locate and test the fuel pump relay...

So if anyone has knowledge or expience on this motor, it would be appreciated...

How/where is the tach signal generated? crank or cam sensor?

does it use waste spark method?

oi pressure sender location?

How do you test for spark on a fucking direct ignition piece of shit?
