Guest TurboSedan Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 i really need the torque spec for the balljoint bolts/nuts (the bolts/nuts that replace the factory rivets). they are new GM balljoints but they didn't come with a torque spec. i'm finally installing the '96 strut/knuckle assemblies with the Intrax springs today. the STE is all taken apart at the moment and need to know how tight to get these things! GhrarhG Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 i believe its something like 45ft-lbs, +120*, thats just 2 flats. I know the +120* is right, but i can't remember off hand if its 45 or 66 ft-lbs. I think 66 is the tie-rod. My book's at home, someone can back me up i hope. Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 i need the torque spec for the four balljoint bolts that actually fasten the balljoint to the strut/knuckle assembly, not the balljoint stud. Quote
White93z34 Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 I just tightened mine good'n'tight. same here, musta done something right... been 20,000 now and everything is still golden. Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 i just tightened them up without a torque wrench. i'm sure it will be fine. Quote
Brian P Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 it's not that much for those bolts, they're under 30 lb/ft if I remember right. It's a low # though. Quote
Calvin Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 yah fuck, they twist off if you give em another 120 deg past 45 ftlbs Mine are also "goodntite", just shy of grunt tight and my balljoints haven't fallen off yet. Quote
