Removing timing cover on a 93 DOHC...

IM BACK f@wkers! I'm 'planning' to stuff a new 3.4 DOHC into the prix which has been sitting on the front of my house for about one year...Before I do, I want one more go at it so I dont ahve to shell out money I dont have...

How do I remove the timing chain cover? If I am not mistaken, that cover also holds the timing idler pullies in place right? Well at the far right corner, there should be a slot where the timing actuator fits into... that part broke off and hence, I havent been able to sit the timing actuator right because even though I bolt up the two screws to the timing actuator plate, the actuator itself does not have any support from the other side.

Do I have to remove the harmonic balancer? UD pulley? Or can I remove the tming chain cover by simply removing the idler pullies? Thanks for your help peeps![br]Posted on: March 27, 2006, 04:06:32 PM_________________________________________________sup body has to know!

#1 - it's a timing belt, not a timing chain

#2 - if all you want to do is remove the timing belt cover to inspect the belt, it is simply two or three bolts on the left side of the engine ...I know that if you do a search you will find a pic or two and a post that will even tell you what size socket to use.

lol, I really do miss this board!

I'm WAY past the belt inspection bro! I'm talking about the timing CHAIN cover...you know, the cover that...covers...the timing chain? No? Its a chain that wraps around the crankshaft and is connected to the intermediate shaft which in turns controls the oil system....maybe?

I'm sorry, not trying to be sarcastic, but kinda desperate so sort of am. I found out the piece I need is actually

part# 163 (ignore the red arrow, which by the way is the timing chain)

Anyone know what bolts hold part #163? OR what bolts hold the timing cover in place? I tried the T-50 but it dioesnt feel right. I konw the T-50 control the timing idler pully bolts, but what about the cover itself? Anyone with a service manual?[br]Posted on: March 27, 2006, 05:53:53 PM_________________________________________________sheared1.jpg

Those are the bolts I'm talking about...Any clue?

OMG don't tell me that was left over in there from the last belt?

You have to remove everything. and then you gain acess to the cover to remove it.
