firefighter_0029
OK Seeing if anyone can help me with this one. Here's the deal I had a 92 Regal Custom Sedan. It was taking up room so I gave it to my Dad for a beater. The only thing that was wrong with it is when you first start it up and put it in drive it was like it was in neutral for a second or 2 and then it would slam into drive hard and then take off. I kinda felt bad because It was giving him trouble so I bought a wrecked GP for the Front Clip Turby needed and Since It only had around 80,000 miles on it and the woman I got It from said she never had a problem with it. I robbed it of it's tranny and put it in the Regal. Now he says this one is doing the same thing as the other one was. Do I have 2 Junk Trannys or what? jeremy
two trannys having that exact same problem seems a little odd to me.....does he actually wait for it to get it gear when moving it from park to drive or does he just yank it down and hit the gas?? firefighter_0029
It has a remote start so most of the time he lets it warm up. I know it's weird to me. It's like its not getting enough fluid, But the level is fine and it's not leaking anywhere. I think the pump was or is going out of both of them thats all I can think of. DaveFromColorado
it's either the pump getting tired, or the modulator valve inside the transmission sticking, and not getting enough pressure to engage the clutches until there is more pressure along the control circuit. --Dave. SleeperRed90TGp
Been there twice. If the motor races and it slams into gear it's the main sprag unit. (roller clutch) You might try the Lucas tranny treatment. Made mine last a while longer. Yours might last forever, I'am a little hard on my tranny. He said the Trans-x stuff made it work a little better but It still does it just not as much. So you pretty much have to tear down the tranny to fix it then? (That might be a stupid question but I know nothing about trannys. I can Rebuild almost anything on a car but I never got into trannys)
