rjtiminskygtp
I have a 91 Grand Prix GTP with a 5 speed, and I was wondering how to tell when the clutch needs to be replaced. I am not familiar with the Hydraulic clutch, usually just spring, so someone please help. Thanx!
5speedz34
Honestly, this is a shot in the dark for me. But the best way to tell is if it is slipping, and how well it grabs. I mean other than that I don't know what to tell you.
jeremy
I was going to say that easiest way to tell if the clutch needs to be replaced is to drive it and see how the clutch responds
z34_nut
indeed, usually its obvious when the clutch starts to slip.
Guest TurboSedan
usually the hydraulic system just needs to be bled and/or flushed. unless it's leaking somewhere of course. as for the clutch, take it up on the highway and put it in 3rd gear at low RPM and floor it - it would probably slip pretty easy with alot of load and you'd probably be able to smell it too if it is slipping. mine got bad pretty fast...i could hardly drive the car after awhile.
