Supreme Cutlass Posted March 27, 2006 Author Report Posted March 27, 2006 I guess I should clarify what my intentions are. First; what I've got a 92 3.1 MPFI with 3 speed What I want; power, my original plan was to make a hybrid then later put on a turbo, but looking at the price of the 3x00 engines, it would seem that it's easier just to do a swap than put money into an old engine. My problem; I'm concerned with electronic issues, since I have a non-computer controlled transmission, I'd probably need a new transmission if I did the swap. If I did use a first-gen 4T60-E computer, I'd have new issues with wiring on a 3400 then, right? My question; what's the most economic decision? I want power but I don't want to pay more than I have to. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Most economic way to go is just to use your old ECM and wiring which would make the 3400 MPFI. It'll still need a little tuning to run optimally of course. Although if you were really set on SFI, I don't think not having an electronic tranny would be a problem. It would still run & drive. I think at the worst, it'd set the check engine light. Quote
