Supreme Cutlass
I guess I should clarify what my intentions are. First; what I've got a 92 3.1 MPFI with 3 speed What I want; power, my original plan was to make a hybrid then later put on a turbo, but looking at the price of the 3x00 engines, it would seem that it's easier just to do a swap than put money into an old engine. My problem; I'm concerned with electronic issues, since I have a non-computer controlled transmission, I'd probably need a new transmission if I did the swap. If I did use a first-gen 4T60-E computer, I'd have new issues with wiring on a 3400 then, right? My question; what's the most economic decision? I want power but I don't want to pay more than I have to.
GnatGoSplat
Most economic way to go is just to use your old ECM and wiring which would make the 3400 MPFI. It'll still need a little tuning to run optimally of course. Although if you were really set on SFI, I don't think not having an electronic tranny would be a problem. It would still run & drive. I think at the worst, it'd set the check engine light.
