waynebenji Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 I have a weird problem with my 94 GTP 3.4 these days, when the engine is cold, it runs strong, but as soon as the engine gets warm, there's rough idling and it eventually stalls. That means no stops possible without keeping my foot on the gas pedal to keep it running over 1000rpm (and the left foot on the brake of course...) Tune up done recently, I just can't figure out why the engine runs perfect when cold?! I went through my Haynes and found something about the HVAC in the trunk and a sensor, but nothing specific. Does anybody have a clue? Thanks! Quote
Dark Ride Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 My First guess would be the coil pack. IIRC when those get warm and they are bad, it'll start missing. Mitch Quote

NeonKnight Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Ignition control module. i can almost bet you a million bucks this is it, i had this same prob on my lumina. just remember once you replace it to relearn the idle on the car... otherwise it will idle like a mofo. one way to test it is get some brakeclean and when it starts acting up spray the shit out of it with that stuff, if it stops for a lil sec then its the ICM Quote
waynebenji Posted March 23, 2006 Author Report Posted March 23, 2006 Thanks a lot, I thaught it must be a vacuum leak, a sensor or something like that, I'll just change the ICM tomorrow and check the coil pack, hope that solves the problem... Quote
95oldsVan Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 If those suggestions dont fix the car, check the egr valve out.It can do the exact thing you describe sometimes.Other places to look are Fuel injectors, pressure and possible clogging fuel filter. Quote
