intern8tion9l
any of you other 5spd people have this problem? was working just fine, then i pulled up to a spot to park, put it in reverse and it went forward instead. so now if i try to put it in 5th it goes into 3rd, and if i try to reverse it goes into 4th. i think it must have something to do with the right hand cable, but i just don't know what....it does seem kind of loose in there though
patgizz
i'd bet you're right, sounds like a cable issue and not an internal issue.

digitaloutsider
I'll bet money it's the cables. My Cutlass' cables are starting to get bad too.
Guest TurboSedan
definately sounds like the crossover cable to me (cable for side-to-side movement)
5speedz34
Yeah, the cables are expensive too. But better than replacing a trans. FWIW: Only 1 of the 284 cables are still available.

I know this is a long shot but... would a shifter cable from a calais work? I mean both the cutty and calais came with 5spd's both had quad 4's? I only ask this because I was trying to find a listing at work, but found the calais with a 5spd trans. Theres two different size cables. Just a question I had to ask.
