I know this was answere before but this is a little different question. I just bought a 93 Cutlass Convertible wth 3.4 DOHC and broken timing belt. Guy that sold it to me told me that previous owner had it fixed after it broke for the first time and guy that was fixing it messed up something with timing and it broke again would it cause to hit the valves or the protection would kick in anyway even if it was not fixed right.

the only thing you can do is put the belt on properly and HOPE it didn't kick the valves.
