dkorinko
I know there would not be a need for a BOV on my 97 GTP but i was just curious to see if anyone has ever put one on a newer GTP that is supercharged. I was thinking that even though there is no need for one, it would still be awesome to have the sound. It cost probably 200 bucks just to make the sound lol, but at the same time, I think you would have a lot of people looking at your car like what the fu*k? Guest TurboSedan
no. not unless you somehow incorporated a FMIC or something.
DaveFromColorado
well, you wouldn't need an FMIC - what you'd have to do is cut a hole into the manifold under the supercharger, and run the BOV under there - it wouldn't make much sense tho, because the BOV is used for two reasons, first is to keep the pressure from reflecting off the throtle body and into the compressor, and the second is to keep the compressor speed up between gear changes for faster boost response - these are two things you don't need on that type of a supercharger setup. --Dave. dkorinko
Sounds like a little to much work, thats alright though I was just curious, I guess I am stuck with the whining of the supercharger now Thanks for the info.
DaveFromColorado
... even if you put on a BOV, it'd never sound like one on a turbocharger ... that I can gaurentee. --Dave.
dkorinko
In that case, forget i said anything. lol thanks.

1990lumina
If you just want the sound, get some type of ricer thing with a speaker under the hood and a sound of a BOV....I bet you could probably buy something like that on eBay too
dkorinko
No thank you. I would have to shoot myself in the face if i ever did something like that, and I would expect everyone of you guys to punish me as well.
DaveFromColorado
I'd actually fly to Tucson to kick your ass if you did that. --Dave.
fastbird232
Well, if you think about it, putting a BOV on a supercharger is the same thing: artificial sound proclaiming you have something under the hood that you really don't. That don't make sense. You can put blow off valve's on certain s/c's. (not the roots ones like the L67)
Rocketman
You can use BOV's with centrifugal superchargers - all they are is a turbo compressor with a gearbox. They are prone to surge just like turbos so BOV's are sometimes used with them.

I believe all those chargers have 'em ... it's the ones where the charger is AFTER the throtle body when you don't need it... much like my carb'd turbo. --Dave. That's as much as a REAL BOV! I could get one for the Beretta and have 3 turbo cars!

Miko K
Just put a turbo kit on your L67 and it comes with a BOV. Then you might want to swap in a manual transmission, to get the full effect from BOV on each shift. 8)
dkorinko
Speaking of which, I am sure this has been asked a million and one times but....does anyone have a 5 speed in a 97 and up GTP????
