firefighter_0029 Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Anyone know anything about what I belive is the Boost Sensor? on a Series I L67? It has 2 wires and vacuum lines going to it on the front of the blower. I want to put an L67 in my Regal, but I don't want to put the computer from the car it came from in it because I don't want the A/C or the EGR Valve Since my car doesn't have it now. Besides that the cars that came with L67's also had a different tranny. I looked through my Service Manuals and all the wiring from my L27 is the same exept that sensor. So if anyone knows what the hell it does let me know. Also I unplugged the sensor from my Park Ave. and it made no differance in the power what so ever. Quote
99RegalGS Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 On the front of the s/c? That's most likely the boost bypass control solenoid. This solenoid allows the PCM to cut boost if it senses knock. Now you could use your L27 harness on that engine and just get rid of that sensor. The L27 PCM will just retard the timing if it senses knock. (The L67's computer does this at the same time it cut's boost anyway) You'll have to get a a/c compressor delete pulley if you don't want a/c. Also if you use your wiring harness and PCM you don't have to worry about the EGR. just leave it alone. It says in the closed position by default. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 The Series I L67 uses a MAP sensor to calculate boost. Quote
brianteel Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 you can use a series 1 regal 3800 harness and trans with the L67 and change some connectors. then you need to get a chip burned for it Quote
firefighter_0029 Posted March 11, 2006 Author Report Posted March 11, 2006 Will the solenoid still blow off excess boost if you don't connect it? Quote
brianteel Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 that valve is not a blow off valve. what it does is allows the air to curculate when you are at idle so you are not boosting all the time.....no you do not need it to work. if you are running it with the series 1 harness. i do bleive though that some guys do run it with that working Quote
digitaloutsider Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Me and Matt F. brainstormed a lot about strapping an Eaton M90/M62 onto a 3.4. We came to the conclusion that if you were really concerned about it, you could probably just attach a vacuum line to the boost bypass valve and achieve the same results. However, the valve is pretty much worthless, and there are some GP guys running without it alltogether. Quote
