19Cutlass94 Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 carb/injector/intake cleaner will work. Quote
ToroToro Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Yeah...carb cleaner works. I don't even bother pulling the TB. Just open it up, spray inside and wipe. Quote
DiscoStudd Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Disconnect the ducting from the air filter to the TB, start the car, and grab hold of the part of the TB where the throttle cable attaches. Spray the cleaner into the TB in short bursts, and open up the "butterfly" as necessary so the motor doesn't die out. Make sure you hose off all of the visible varnish that's on the inside of the TB and the butterfly... Quote
z34Phoenix Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 well, i'd just pull the tb if it hasnt been cleaned in a long time. when i pulled my TB to P&P it there was a lot of build up even though i did regular cleanings. once out you can use brake cleaner... that stuff works the best... and if not just sand and polish it! that way next time you need to clean it you just need a rag and wipe it.
