joey b Posted March 17, 2006 Report Share Posted March 17, 2006 yes, the crank sensor was not accurately reading the position of the crank and sending spark at the incorrect timing. Maybe I should be using the term spark knock instead of pinging, but regardless it sounded 100% like a frying pan being repeatedly smacked on my engine and was too loud to distinguish the origin of the sound.
