Yeah, there's really not enough info there...

where under the car is it commin' from.. passanger side, drivers side, are you sure it's oil and not Trans fluid, how much is leaking out, is it pouring out, or just a slow drip ...

we also don't know what engine or transmission is in that car, or even what kinda car it is.

sorry i didn't put down any info but i will now, its a big leak when i turn the car on it is a stream coming down. Its coming off of the front cradles cross member. it seemed to be going over the starter becuase it was all wet.the oil coller seemed alright. I got it towed over to the shop for now to see.

(Rushman04, i got a 92 grand prix with a 3.1. I have replaced the headgaskets and eveery gasket up from there last winter. The oil leaks only when the car is running. iam thinking it more towards the driver side the oil is coming out of and running across the cross member.)this is his car and where its leaking.

when a rear main leaks would it hit the cradle and starter? i dont remember when my corsica had a rearmain i forget :bash:

its definetly not the rear main. the only possibilitys, are that something isn't right with the oil filter, or the oil pressure switch if leaking, i've seen theese switches crack and start leaking.

a really bad valve cover leak MIGHT drip from that area but, you would have a burning smell from all the oil burning off on the manifolds.

p.s. if it was the rear main it would only leak while running and it would be dripping from the bottom of the flywheel inspection cover, just behing the starter, between engine and transmission.

could be the oil pump drive o-ring too ... look at the top of the engine, under the throtle body to see if it's comming out from there.

I have a similar leak,, looks to be under the Throttle body below and to the left of the master cilinder resevoir. It leaks enough to get the cradle wet and the bottom ofthr car and I have wet spots every night on the ground.

Someone who looked at it mentioned that this is a common leak in the 3.4 engine on the cutlass and it is an o ring seal on the oil pump drive

it's a common problem on almost all the 60 degree V6 engines (2.8, 3.1, 3.4 DOHC, 3100, 3400 ...)

A small possibility...but...if you recently changed the oil/filter, it's possible that the gasket from the old filter stuck to the block and didn't come off with the old filter. Then when the new filter was installed, there is a double filter gasket between the filter and block. Its a rare occourence...but I have seen it happen.....the result is a large oil leak from the filter area, the oil blows out from between the two gaskets.
