Cutlass88er
So, driving to work I turn to park, and I skid into a curb. I honestly didn't think it would do this. It took out my rotor and my hub assembly. I didn't think I could break that. I kind of want to do it myself but I won't have time for the next month. She's in the shop being looked at now. Has anybody ever had this fixed? What do you guys think will be my repair bill?

terryk2003
yeah...hmm im guessing maybe something with the monoleaf failed??i cant see it dropping to the ground otherwise it dropped to the ground because the whole hub assembly broke off...basically the hub is @ the bottom of the wheel now (instead of the center) and that corner is sitting on the monoleaf... thats wicked...i can't believe it broke like that...how hard did u hit the curb!?
jeremy
how fast were you going??
Cutlass88er
If I had to take a guess i would say 5-10MPH, not fast at all. Living in a city I can tell you I've hit curbs a lot (not so much this car but the cutty and the prizm took a beating) and had never had anything go wrong like this. grrr, waiting on the shop to call back. I think maybe it's becuase the curb was tall.
terryk2003
my guess is the wheel bearing was already bad...and u didnt do it any favors by hitting that curb
GP1138
Be glad it failed there, instead of out on the road on a curve or a pothole on the highway or something!
GutlessSupreme
That's a new one on me...
Guest TurboSedan
wow  looks like the hub broke and then the weight of the vehicle took out the rotor. really easy fix, although a new hub is expensive.
88Regal Limited
 Holy Shit!?
Brian P
that coulda been a lot worse. Just bolt-on parts without getting too involved. Do you have ABS on it?
Hairdo12
My best guess at a price if you did it yourself would be: 100 for the hub 20 for a new rotor For a total of 120... assuming that nothing else was damaged by that although I bet that caliper took a hit because it was the only thing keep ing the rotor in place when it got shredded. Add for caliper 35 and new pads 25 I would say 180. If you take it to a indepenent shop I would say 300-350 if you walked in with the parts. If you take it a shop like Monroe or Midas I bet anything they won't even touch it without this: New rotor for both rear wheels $75-90 x2 New pads for both rear wheels $50 At least one new hub for the RR $200 (chances are they will try to sell you a LR "because if it happened to the right it'll happen to the left") four wheel alignment $75-100 slopping some grease on your caliper sliders "slider service" $25 labor $200-300 1 RR caliper (another where they will sell you the left for the hell of it) $90 one complimentary ass raping
THe_DeTAiL3R
UP TO $100 for a hub, then the price of rotors (get both changed so they match), and it would make sense to get new pads while you're at it.
Guest TurboSedan
i just got a used rear ABS hub last month for $15 from the j/y. changing rear hubs is cake but from my experience they can be stuck in the knuckle and require force to remove. 19Cutlass94
 Holy Shit!? Thats what I said!!! with ABS, My listing is showing it for $227.88 for a rear hub (for the best one  For one you would want, $146.77 for rear hub w/ABS
NeonKnight
daaaamn. ya guys know when ya see another guy get kicked in the nuts and your legs kind of just buckle... well thats what happend when i saw this. I can hear my lumina crying from outside... that poor poor sexy car i hope this never happens to mine. but yea what they said, replacing the hub should only take you a few hours. just go junkyard yourself a hub. even if you do not take it home... Anyone else think that junkyards are great places for learning how to tear cars apart?
Cutlass88er
Joe called from the shop and said she'll be done friday, $275. I figured it's not that bad. And since I don't have the time to take care of it myself it's well worth it. After digging out my haynes book, I saw it was maybe 3-4 hours(including all the cigarette breaks compliment of rusted on bolts.) Looks like fun to do. I'm glad she's more or less ok. No perm. damage. Rest of the suspension and the knucle are all ok. YES!!! <-- Sigh in relief!
THe_DeTAiL3R
That's not too bad. I tried to change a rear hub once but I couldn't get one of the damn rusted bolts off.... just kept stripping it so I said fuck it. One of the FEW times I've gave up on a project.
