z34_nut
Well I'm going to do a complete tune up on my car, and I'm woundering about the best plugs I should buy...My coils and wires seem to be fine. I would also like to know what you guys would suggest for a new 3" cone filter...By the looks of it, its one of those cheap red Auto Zone filters. I wanna toss it for some thing a little better. I already got a new set of injectors and rails, and I'm waiting to install those. For intake gaskets, it doesn't really matter does it? Anyway, thanks for the help. 19Cutlass94
Honestly for the plugs, I personaly think you cant beat AC delco (in our cars) The normal plugs work good, but I guess no one has had any problems with rapidfires, so you might wanna try those out. NGK's are also good plugs. They have more "performance" plug (if you will) but are also more expensive. For the cone filter... K&N
wyomingste
If you have the money invest in a set of Denso Iridium spark plugs, the motor will at minimum gain throtle response. The downfall of corse is the price I paid 78 USD for 6 of them. Hope that helps, WyomingSTE
19Cutlass94
yeah there like 12 bucks a pop for em (depending on where you go) but if your really after that, get the NGK Iridium, a very good plug about half the cost and you dont notice throttle responce between the two Very few peopel will pay 12 bucks a plug. Bossman429
Delco upper gaskets are much nicer than aftermarket. At least from what I have seen on the 3.1. Delcos are plastic with rubber around the sealing area, with guide pins to get the gasket in the right place. Aftermarkets are usually just a paper gasket, no guide pins, no rubber around the ports. Be ready to pay more for the AC Delcos, but IMO it's worth it. I think a 3.1 upper plenum set for the 3.1 is like $14, versus $5 for aftermarket. White93z34
intake gaskets for a 3.4 don't really matter, i've always used felpro gaskets with no issues.

Thanks a bunch...as for the difference in the laser Iridiums, and the IX...is there any? The Iridium IX is a pure Iridium plug, the best one that NGK offers. The laser Iridiums have platnium pad on them (which is cheaper than Iridium) and is like an inexpensive version if you will
cutlsp
that doesn't explain the price differance then..... :?
19Cutlass94
Platnium is cheaper than Iridium, MUCH cheaper since its 6 time denser than platnium. Plus the way its made with computer graphing/cutting also contributes
z34_nut
ok, so the point here is this... 6044 for laser Iridium - $13.99 7397 for Iridium IX - $8.29 if pure Iridium is MORE expensive...then why is it listed CHEAPER then the platnum/iridium plugs?
