wyomingste Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 To put this short what motor in the w-body (2 door grand prix SE unknown year) would have 24 valves? I'm confused I thought that we would only have 12 valve motors (don't know what the 3.4 has). I was smoked on my way home from dropping my brother off at school and i'm just curious. Thanks, WyomingSTE Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 The 3.4 is a DOHC V6 motor... dual over head cams.. times 6 cylinders... if there were two valves per cylinder with one cam, how many do we have with two Quote
wyomingste Posted March 3, 2006 Author Report Posted March 3, 2006 Thanks that helps wasn't sure how many it had. Thanks for the fast response, what hp were they rated out of the factory? WyomingSTE Quote
herb427sc Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 The dual twin cam was in Grand Prix from 91 to 96. Quote

OldSkoolGP Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Amen brother! I've been asked by a couple people why I don't swap. One of my big reasons is that sound. Quote

I loved the sound as well...there's nothing else like it when you're doing about 20-25 mph in an auto one, and get down on it, the tranny does it's thing and it sounds like hell's exploding.... Oh wait, that was just the motor or tranny grenading. But all BS aside, I agree it does make an exceptional sound with a filter on a stick. Quote
chadz34 Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 The twin dual cam is one of the best sounding WOT V6's I have ever heard. Quote
Pontiac6KSTEAWD Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 The twin dual cam is one of the best sounding WOT V6's I have ever heard. I would have to disagree with that one, I would have to with some of the bigger motors for. like the 4.3 turbo, 3.8 SC S3 (that whine is addicting I tell ya), and i would also probly say the 3.1 turbo (that whine is addicting I tell ya)..
