95oldsVan
Is it possible to unbolt the coil pack and module board and move it up higher on top of the engine bay somewhere? For easier access and replacement? Or do I have to cut the wiring and add more wire length to get the job done? I hate the fact that the coil packs and module is under the exhaust manifold down there and should be on top of the engine/bay somewhere. Would love to move it up higher someplace. If anyone has done it,what was involved?
92LuminaRS
It is possible, but yes you would have to add extra wire more than likely. I know at least with the crankshaft sensor you would. I've never fully disassembled my wiring harness but I'm not too sure there is much slack in the wiring to move it. Also you have to take into considering spark plug wire length and the actual mounting of the pack. IMO that would be a good writeup
slick
I'd say its possible

92LuminaRS
That's awesome! Do you have any more pics? How hard was it to do?
slick
Mainly just pullin apart the harness's so i didnt have to extend wires. And had to make a bracket.
92LuminaRS
How about the crankshaft sensor, that wire is relatively short

92LuminaRS
Yeah, but I've crawled under my '91 Lumina to replace it (never did) and it was only two wires in it's own harness that ran from the crank to the coil pack, and it was relatively short... It had the 3.1, is yours the 3.4?

It had the 3.1, is yours the 3.4? I drive a Z34. Yes, it's a 3.4. The original coilpack/ICM assembly sat below the front exhaust manifold. I simply undid the harness's, ran the necessary plugs to where i wanted them to be, and re-did the harness's. There is more wire in those looms than what there appears to be. z284pwr
Post of a 3.1 module/coil packs moved you cheater I don't think it would be as easy to just install it right on the "valve cover" on a 3.
