DEMonte1997
Thought I'd poll you guys about it... This has happened a few times now. Occurs in the morning. I'll go start the car to let it warm up (it's ~25* here). It warms up for about 10 minutes. I put it in Reverse and the rpms drop down from 1000 to about 400 and then the car almost dies. The rpms drop way down and then shoot up to about 1200 as I hear the IAC hissing from the intake. This process will continue infinitely. No codes thrown. The car will keep doing this until I back out of my driveway and put it in Drive. Once I get rolling, the car is fine and doesn't do this again. Anyone have ideas? I'm hoping it's just wires or a plug. Car has new wires and plugs as of August of 05'...
19Cutlass94
Everytime I put my car into drive and sometimes reverse from park, the RPM's will drop but go right back up. Sometimes the voltage drops when the RPM's drop. I duno my car has always done it so it must be normal right

DEMonte1997
The drop in rpms is normal, but the car shouldn't start "surging" after this. The car starts hiccuping like it wants to stall. I think the MAF might be dirty. One easy way to find out-I'll just unplug the damn thing next time it happens. If it's bad, the MAP sensor will run the car and everything should be fine. I'm hoping it's just dirty from K&N oil.
Crazy K
I had my IAC act up and keep opening and closing while idling, it was due to an out of spec temp sensor (the ecm one by the thermostat).

Lee
You know....maybe we should do away with the General section seems none of us amatures can figure out what you profesionals require. My thoughts are that General means "general," not just everything that isn't catagorized. Here's an example...I tell you that my car engine dogs down two or three hundred rpm at idle everytime I put my brakes on. At night it makes the lights dim. What is the catagory that it belongs in? Performance or Brakes/suspension? I have a tired PMIII brake system. The electronic/electric motor dogs the engine. So I post in General and I'm wrong? We added the extra sections for a reason. It's not like we're asking a lot.
