genEus
Damn it, this really shouldn't have happened this early on, the car only has 21k miles on it. The dude at the shop says the coolant is leaking from the intake gasket but doesn't know exactly where without taking it apart. He quoted me $560 to fix it. Me and my buddies are gonna try to tear it apart this weekend. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks

Crazy K
not hard. if in doubt, refer to a quality shop manual.... or even the basic haynes manual. it is not hard. 21k? what type of car? no warrenty???

genEus
Well I am back, 2 and a half years later. I am seeing drops of coolant on the driveway, once again. But it seems like we did a solid job fixing the intake gasket leak last time around, about 30 thousand miles ago. Do they come back, or should I look for a different cause of the leak? I can't see it being the heater core or the water pump - shouldn't those just "go" and gush out, but not drip? Where should I look to see if it's the intake gasket leaking again? I've looked as much as I could from all different sides but I can't find the pool of green that I saw once before. Maybe I am just not looking in the right place? Thanks for your suggestions! meltboy1
I would also check the water pump, had that go on my old 3100 too. In terms of the LIM again, idk, I just let mine leak... didn't feel like fixing it... lol

meltboy1
idk, I drove around with a leaky LIM for a long time, just put a bit of coolant in every couple weeks, it wasn't leaking bad enough for me to fix it, but then again, I hated that car too, so... I guess if it was my TGP or something it woulda got fixed. But I know the... weeper, is that what it's called? went on my water pump and it was leaking while driving and would also leave drips in the driveway after stopping. rockfangd
the weep hole on the water pump shouldnt be too difficult to confirm as the culprit. sometime it doesnt gush from the weep hole but it will drip
