96montecarloz31
well, with the monte totaled and all the parts here waiting for me, im wondering what it will take to convert the mono-leaf rear on my 94 Lumina Euro to the rear struts on my 96 Monte Car LS. ill alos be adding Eibach springs in this swap. so whats is needed, any parts to buy (i have the entire assembly in the MC) and how hard is this to do
Crazy K
I'm disappointed that you are not fixing your monte. The damage it has is relativley minor!
96montecarloz31
eh, i found a L67 swapped 98 Lumina LTZ for a good price that i am probably buying. if he decides he is actually going to sell it. and its just not worth it to me to fix it. if someone actually wants to buy it and fix it, i'd probably consider selling it as a whole (minus the leather and front KYB's)
92LuminaRS
I've heard that the when converting 1st gen cars with the monoleaf to coilovers, the strut towers can't handle the added stress. I don't remember where I heard that or if it's even correct. I agree with Crazy K, that's very fixable. It sad to see a car that nice die

It sad to see a car that nice die it was just a theory, it's never actually happened. and there are plenty of people with coilovers that beat the shit out of their cars enough to find out if something was going to come of it... 92LuminaRS
So your saying I can strip my parent's '95 lumina of the rear suspension/brakes/abs unit and make it work on my '92?
5speedz34
So your saying I can strip my parent's '95 lumina of the rear suspension/brakes/abs unit and make it work on my '92? No because the strut towers are completely different than the 90-94 luminas w/o the coilover setup. The bolt holes won't even line up. 92LuminaRS
90-94 luminas never came w/ coilovers... I was asking the same question as 96 monte. The 96 monte and the 95 lumie have the basic same suspension setup

No, I said the coilovers most likely won't punch through the unibody. that was all. these coilovers: http://www.fastfwdperformance.com/coilovers.html 90-94 luminas never came w/ coilovers... GnatGoSplat
The springs are too wide to fit. You'd have to cut & weld the strut towers.

No, I said the coilovers most likely won't punch through the unibody. that was all. these coilovers: http://www.fastfwdperformance.com/coilovers.html Those look super nice! However,I wonder if they are all that they appear to be.Putting springs around a strut to support the car is fine but I wonder how handling is affected.Too hard maybe? Those strut coil overs look like something I would enjoy doing someday. Just have to learn if theres any negative affects from switching from a rear leaf to one of these.
