Psych0matt
relating to my putting a 96 LQ1 into the cutlass 1. What is the newer starter that's smaller that everyone likes that I should look for? 2. If using my old coil bracket and location (down under the front valve cover) should I stick with the 94 wires? (im assuming 96+ accounts for the difference in location) 3. For the lower motor mounts, one is solid and one is fluid filled. I want these, not both solid, correct? (I would think that would be a ton of vibration) I think that's about it for now
chadz34
Why do you want a smaller starter? And I think you might need to go with 96' wires there are some major changes. The pre-95 one's have longer wires to go to the front of the car instead of having the coil pack right besdie the motor. You will have a shitload of slack. White93z34
from what i understand you just sak for a starter for say a 2001 malibu with a 3100 or a 2001 impalla with a 3400. its nice to have since its smaller, lighter and higher torque. i know if/when mine dies i'm getting one of them if your keeping your coils under the manifold, use the 94 wires, the 96' ones are cut differently for the different coil pack location. dohcfiend
1. pick whichever starter you like as i think there isn't any changes made to the flexplate. the reason people pick the smaller starters is if they are looking for weight reduction. 2. you will need to swap back to your 94 valvecovers and use your 94 wires. 96 wires will not work as if u use the 94-95 coilpack location(they are WAAAAY too short). 3.if u are getting new lower mounts use oem ones if u do not want vibrations. there are 3 of them btw. I was assuming because he was getting a 96' LQ1, that he would have the coil pack wher eit usually is, my bad.
Psych0matt
1. i figured smaller+ligher+more torque= always a good thing 2. yes, the idea was to keep the coil packs down there (at least for now) 3. 3 mounts, oem, gotcha thanks guys.
