Dirty Rockstar Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 About the DOHC black engine covers.. (Say Twin Dual Cam V6 or 3.4L DOHC V6).. Can these be strengthened so they dont warp and crack? More often than not I see these things wapred, cracked, and in general shitty shape.. Just wonderin about it.. Quote
NeonKnight Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 well you can have someone custom fab one up of of composite, or carbon fiber. the corvettes use composite for their upper intake manifolds so it is really strong. Quote
fastbird232 Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 I haven't seen one in person or in pictures that wasn't warped. Took mine off because that bent piece of crap looked horrible. Quote
NeonKnight Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 I have... i almost bought this Z34, thing was so dead sexy!!! i think they only wanted $1500 or something like that for it. it was a married couple who had been searching for one for a long time and finally found it... but then this happened to it. i was going to buy this back in january of 04... but my parents would not allow me. if that thing was a 5 speed it would have been a very very clean Z34. the only problem with it was on the passenger side rear quarter panel.. some stupid kid had hit it and smashed it in a good lots. the car was all original, low miles, owned by an old guy who had it in a garage sitting for about 8 years lol. and he was the original owner, interior was immaculate. if you want to see the full size pics here you go. http://photobucket.com/albums/v205/NK2186/Lumina%20Z34/ Quote
White93z34 Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 that POOR z34, it was so clean.... and my favorite color/year anyhow, that stupid metal strip and plastic cover i took mine completely off with a heatgun after it started to peal, cleaned all the surfaces, and glued it on with some 3M emblem adhesive... now a year later its starting to peal again, this time i think im going to use my heavy duty as all get out 2 part epoxy i have. chadz34 Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 Like mine, but whoever put the side moulding on needs to be fucking smashed in the face. Quote
ShockTherapy Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 steve, i have a 3.4L DOHC V-6 one - perfect shape. PM me if you're intrested. Quote
Dirty Rockstar Posted February 27, 2006 Author Report Posted February 27, 2006 Thanks for the offer tim, and I may take ya up on it.. But I am realistically looking for a way to strengthen it, or at least make it more heat resistant.. Quote
19902drlumina Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 get a plate of sheet metal fitted to it right drill wholes where bolts go and concrete adhisive it to the plastic should make it stronger but i dunno about heat resistant Quote
z34Phoenix Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 they changed them for 96 i have no problems! and it jsut clips in so it is free to expand and contract with the heat. Quote
