waynebenji
Hi, I'm new here and really glad that I finally found a place where all the w-body maniacs meet! I live in Vaughan, Ontario and bought a 1994 Grand Prix GTP with only 30000km - was happy until I found out that the speedo is not working and the kms are fake... Well, my big problem here is: The engine was rough idling and stalled when I stopped the car, I also had fuel smell from the engine compartment. I thaught it has to be a vacuum leak in the EVAP circuit and found a vacuum hose besides the battery that is not connected. I checked everything but can't find the connector it belongs to!? The hose ends right behind the driver's side headlight and has an "ellbow" type rubber connector at its end. Can somebody help me? It's a 1994 GTP with the 3.4lV6 DOHC and automatic transmission. Thanks a lot!
Crazy K
Look beneath the bumper, that is where a vacuum ball is located. that should be the line to it... sometimes the balls get broken off.... as for a fuel smell... I don't think that should be causing it.... on these cars, sometimes the O-rings on the injectors can leak and start fires... you need to check if there is a actual fuel leak... I'm not a 3.4 expert, but I the injectors are easy to see on the 3.4, if you remove the plate atop the engione. good luck! and make sure the problem gets resolved, asking for help is a good way to do it! DiscoStudd
Your vacuum "system" should consist of a hose running from the vacuum ball to a 3-way check valve located near the battery. One end of the check valve goes to the ball, one to the engine, and the other through the firewall to the HVAC controls. I made a diagram a while back, which should be helpful. Just ignore the part about a vac hose connecting to the cruise servo, since the servo was electronic (not vacuum) in 1994.
