PCGUY112887 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 In a 96 3100. Yes I know about this thread http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16325 However I can't decide what engine that is for. Do I HAVE to remove the upper AND lower intake to get to this thing or can I just follow his instructions (which are kind of hard for me to do without pics). Yes I know this is a fairly simple fix however i've never done it before and I don't have the time or money to just start tearing into things and risk messing something up. Thanks. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Ive looked at mine before (3100) and it just seems like it would be much easier with the upper intake off. (but it works for me since I have replace gaskets and maybe valve seals) But follow those instructions and youll be fine. Its not that hard. Quote
DaveFromColorado Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 IIRC you can do it while leaving the lower intake manifold on - but this would be a good chance to replace those gaskets while you're in there. --Dave. Quote
PCGUY112887 Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 Is there any problems in just letting this leak for a whial and keeping an eye on the oil level? I rather take the time to tear the top down and replace gaskets and such but latelly getting a warm day on a day off school has been rare. Quote
Crazy K Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 well, it will get worse.... but i would at lest check the oil everytime you get gas to see how much you add. the bonus of a leaking seal... is that it undercoats your car as you drive! Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 haha Ive sent atleast 100 bucks in oil since it started leaking. Everytime I check the oil Im a half quart lower than before and thats only in one week. (if that) thats what Im doing, just checking the oil until it gets warm enough out I can fix everything at once. Quote
Kaline Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 I just replaced my oil pump drive seal on Saturday, using the posted directions from this website. IT WORKED GREAT! I learned the reason you unhook the fuel lines is for clearance to get the drive assembly out. The job took me about 1.5 hours, but I work very slow. Good luck! Quote
