95oldsVan
I didnt find anything in the search that may be what im looking for. When I go around sharp turns and give the car gas,the transmission feels like it escapes to neutral or its slipping bad.I let off the gas and it catches back and all is well.It seems to do this around very sharp turns.Im assuming tranny related but is there a condition where these cars go around turns and the axles slip and/or slide?Im not getting any noise except the engine revving higher when it does this. Thanks for any ideas.
Supreme Cutlass
Sounds like low transmission fluid
Grand Moff Joseph
Check your tranny fluid level, and check the lines and pan for leaks. If that all checks out, then I'm not sure what to do next...
slick
Even if your trans fluid is at normal, taking corners at excessive speeds could slosh the trans fluid around enough that the pump will not be able to pick up this. This causes the trans to slip outta gear until fluid is able to be picked up by the pump again. For safe measures, I run mine 1/2 quart over
95oldsVan
Thanks guys, the tranny fluid is full but I will try to see if adding a bit more helps.I dont take sharp corners that hard but its enough to notice the slip. Theres 188,000 miles on this car and theres no sign the trans ever been rebuilt or replaced.I have changed the fluid and fliter every year I had this car and its kept the internals clean.Gonna see if theres any gunk in the pan next time I drop it down.It may be time for a rebuild down the road. Supreme Cutlass
what kind of Transaxle is it, btw? I would change the filter before doing something expensive.
THe_DeTAiL3R
Even if your trans fluid is at normal, taking corners at excessive speeds could slosh the trans fluid around enough that the pump will not be able to pick up this. I've only had it happen to me once though, I was trying to do a really sharp U-turn too fast, didn't sound too healthy.
