Crazy K Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 88-91 CS's the one I have is from a 90 Quote
ToroToro Posted February 22, 2006 Author Report Posted February 22, 2006 88-91 CS's the one I have is from a 90 '92s and '93s as well. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Nope, wasn't an option in 92 and 93. Quote
stockgp Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 yeah i can't find it for 92-93 in alldata Quote
stockgp Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 ok so the only yellow i can find is on connector c1 and it it the lights on signal. it's in pin C. the only light blue i can find going to the dic is the english/metric input. it's also on connector c1 in slot g. i don't know what else to tell you fellers :? Quote
ToroToro Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 Wierd...I could have swore I've seen it in the newer cars before. :? Anyways, I just tried it at night, and of course the four left most buttons dont light up worth a shit. ( matches my cd player I haven't fixed yet ) Has anyone here pulled one of these apart and done anythng to them? I assume the bulbs are soldered in right? Quote
stockgp Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 i think, zack, that you should ground pin d on your dis. pin f is for the analog gauge cluster in the touring sedan. i still don't know what they do, but that's my guess. on the same note, i don't see an english/metric input at all for your dis Quote
stockgp Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 for the bulbs i have no clue. th eone i pulled and sold from a 90 touring sedan was the ONLY dis i've ever seen. hell, aside from my gp and one 96 gp i've enver seen another gp with a dic Quote

There is no G slot on connector C1. Connector 2, slot G is the wire i am speaking of... so it must be a typical typo. I hope it's not too much to ask if we might see the cutty diagram itself? Here's my synopsis for the installation pinout of a CS: C1, 4 pin Black connector A ORN serial data input B GRN Vehicle speed input C PNK fuel level feed (car wire harness wire changes to PNK) D BLK base cluster ground only C2, 8 pin Blue connector A ORN constant hot, fed from fuse #2 (memory, ELEC fuse 15 AMP) B PNK/BLK switched hot, fed from fuse #10 (CLST fuse, 10 Amp) C YEL parking/headlights on D GRY interior lights dimming (backlighting) E BLK ground F BLK UB3 ground only G YEL E/M switch (Turns to LT BLU on body harness) h BLK ground Quote
stockgp Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 seems i keep forgetting to put up the second half of diagrams :x anyhow. heads up for you guys, if you want these print them out. i will be cleaning out my photobucket account to make room for other stuff, so i'll be deleting these soon. Crazy K Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 raiding you account as we speak! so we have determined that the DIS are alsmost identical, except for the wire necesary for metric use. although it remains to be seen what the firmware affects. I wonder if my CS vert would be pre-wired, since everything else is in that car. I did look but not extensively for the wires. Quote
ToroToro Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 You are probobly right about the yellow wire being the E/M switch...since none of my grounds worked, and the pin is mysteriously absent on mine. Kinda wierd though, because the Regency had an E/M switch near the cluster ( not specifically on it )... As far as the firmware, who knows. I did the little cheat code thing and brought up the version screen. I wonder how many versions there are of this thing...keeping in mind that this DIC was used in the Ciera and Calais as well. I'll probobly buy every one I see so I can get the best one. I really want a 2.1 W...as far as I know that is the best they come. I kinda want to find one of them "auto calculators" too, from the older Ninety Eights and hook it up. They look pretty sweet. Quote

When you say there is no wire, you mean there is no wire from the dis to it's connector, I presume? I snipped off some of the factory harness at the same time, and there are empty slots on the body side. If i want to utilize the empty slots, i just have to add some pinned wires. Version info? Cheat code? how do you do that? AutoCalculator???? more info!!! Quote
ToroToro Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 There was no wires coming out of the DIC for those pins. Anywhere. For the code thing... You hit DEST then RESET....then for the mileage you enter 8192. It'll bring up a screen that gives something like this... E MC L 72 14 4 H E= english MC= 3800 engine code L= Park lamps Off 72= Dimming Input percent 14= Fuel level percent 4= 4004 pulses per mile H= VSS signal input high Hit DEST again and it brings up the version screen. DEST once more and you are back to normal mode. I'll have to find a pic of an auto calculator. It's like a primative DIC that functions as a calculator as well. Fits in the same hole as the 88+ Regency DIC goes. I have only seen them in pictures, but they look like laughable 80's technology at it's finest. Quote

So does Ross (poor guy) in fact give me his, so i can have two in my car! Quote
ToroToro Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 Dont worry, I've got the sickness too. I'd probobly tuck it in a console though, because it would clash violently with my chrome free interior. I just scanned this from my 87 Regency/ Delta 88 dealer brouchure. I'm tempted by the thought of a voice reminder system too. But if it's anything like the one in my 87 Toronado was, I dont want it. That computer voice lady needed grammer lessons bad. stockgp Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 oh jebus. that's got to be the dumbest piece of electronic equipment i've ever seen Quote
Crazy K Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 "The charging system is not working properly..." wow, that would be fun to add! I could have got one from a 86 toronado I saw at the j/y, but anyone know where the module is so I can grab it? how about pins, stockgp? in fact, what other cars may i snatch one from? Quote

Toronados are wired EXTREMELY different. They use a BCM. Quote
