Spcboyd1
About two weeks ago i wrote that i had a stutter in the car. I took the car back to the transmission shop that i har the transmission replaced at and they said that two of the cylinders are firing irractically. They said that my intake manifold gasket was bad and that dex cool was covering the plugs. So i replace the intake manifold gasket. ( not very fun) The car runs ok but it still has the stutter. So i say f it ill just drive it how it is but now the car has a fuel smell to it inside the car i opened the hood and its not very strong in the engine compartment but it seems to be by the passenger side. So i was wondering what does this sound like i think that it may be a coil or an injectort i really dont have time to pull the plenm off but i think i could change the coils in a little over an hour not to mention injectors are like 80 + each and a set of coils is right about 110. So i was wondering which one do you think it could be, And do you think that i would be wasting time/money changing the coils. And should i just check the injectors before i do any thing. Also could you tell me the syptoms of a bad coil or injector. I know that this is confusing but thanks for any advice that can be given. Robby1870
get a timing light and hook it up to your plug wires. If the spark is not regular, then one of the coils is bad. If all the coils are good, injector. If you arent gettin any spark at all, crank position sensor, but I highly doubt that Robby
JS91Z34
Check to see if the two erratic cylinders are on the same coil. If they are try switching the two wires around between the two towers and see what it does. I work on these motors just about everyday I go to work. People will try their own tune-up and get two or more wires crossed. These cars with the three coil packs, you can actually switch the wires around between the two towers and the car will still run. It might run like shit, but it will still run.

Spcboyd1
Well yesterday i replaced all the coil packs and i also noticed that i had a leak by one of the injectors when i changed the intake manifold gasket i forgot to get o-rings for the injectors os i used the ld one so that was the fel smell the accelertion feels much better and it doesnt stutter as far as i can tell bt yo know sometime problems seem to come back i checked all the injectors and they were all 12. something so i read that is what they are suppose to read. All i have left to do is get the exhase and cat done and maybe new shocks if i get some extra money but the shocks can wait. But thank you for the advice it helped alot.
